Professional Biography
Dr Vestarkis is a Senior Specialist Anaesthetist and has a fellowship in Obstetric anaesthesia. She holds a Membership of the Royal College of Physicians as well as Fellowships in Anaesthesia for both the Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK and the Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. She has completed a Masters in Perioperative Medicine and is passionate about continuous education, quality improvement projects and reducing low value healthcare. She has presented to Choosing Wisely Australia, the International “Greening the Healthcare Sector” Conference in Brisbane, 2021 and at the Princess Alexandra 61st Health Care Symposium, 2022. Her Quality improvement project has been highly commended at the 25th Annual ACHS awards 2022 (Australian Council of Healthcare Standards) and has also been presented at the 2023 Queensland Clinical Excellence Awards. She has recently been a guest speaker for Monash University’s highly regarded Perioperative Medicine Podcast on how to reduce low value healthcare and improve healthcare sustainability.

She is an active Advanced Life Support and Advanced Paediatric Life Support Instructor and facilitates ALS2 workshops for ANZCA, the Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. In addition to these positions, Dr Vestarkis also serves on the ANZCA Queensland Anaesthesia Continuing Education (ACE) committee and is also acting Deputy Director of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
