Professional Biography
Dr Martin Heck grew up in Germany and attended the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg where he completed his medical degree in Medicine as well as a doctoral thesis. He went on to train in Anaesthesia in academic teaching hospitals and successfully sat his Board Examination in Anaesthesiology. Besides working in a cardiothoracic hospital he worked in emergency and retrieval medicine for German Air Rescue and various other emergency services.
After relocating with his family to Australia he obtained fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. He currently undertakes both public and private work, is employed as Senior Consultant Anaesthetist at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and holds accreditation in all private hospitals around the Sunshine Coast
He has published several papers, presented on international conferences, wrote a book chapter in a textbook on complications in anaesthesia and is a senior lecturer for Griffith University.
Other interests
After dabbling in many sports such as volleyball, skiing and scuba diving he finally found his passion in road cycling.
